Trial and Appellate Lawyer

John Pound is a trial and appellate lawyer in Santa Fe.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of New Mexico in 1968 and attended Boston College Law School on a Presidential Scholarship.  He graduated from Boston College in 1971 with a Juris Doctor degree.

After clerking in the United States Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit, for the Honorable Oliver Seth, John Pound went into the practice of law.  He has tried cases in virtually every county in New Mexico over the past forty years.  He has been a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1991, is listed in the publications The Best Lawyers in America and Southwest Super Lawyers and is a fellow of the American and New Mexico Bar Foundations.

John has litigated a variety of complex commercial cases, including class actions.  His cases have involved breach of contract, breach of warranty, fraud, tortious interference, breach of fiduciary duty, strict liability and RICO claims, as well as numerous aspects of health law.

In the field of professional malpractice, John Pound has defended hospitals, physicians, nurses and attorneys and has served as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases.

He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in business, personal injury and wrongful death cases and, in recent years, has been active as a mediator and arbitrator.
